Frequently Asked Questions

We offer 1 oz, 2 oz, 4 oz, 16 oz, and 32 oz clear glass jars for your use. You pay $2.50 + tax and when you return the jar, you get $2.50 + tax back. While we have other containers available at our store (laundry soap, dish soap, shampoo containers), these are not returnable.

When you purchase refillable products online, there's a $2.50 container deposit to cover the cost of the selected container. This deposit is automatically added to your cart when you choose the product quantity, regardless of the size.

In-store, we add the $2.50 to your purchase to cover the cost of the selected container.

After using the product, you have three options:

1. Return the empty container to get your deposit refunded.
2. Visit our store to refill the container with another product.
3. Keep the container at home and reuse it as you like!

When you make a purchase online, we will put your product in the container you choose when ordering. If you use the Deposit Program containers, when you order next, you can leave a message in the order notes indicating you have containers to return. If you choose delivery (free for orders over $50), we will pick up your returns when we drop off your order.

Yes, you can bring in any type of container as long as it is clean, has a secure lid, and sized appropriately for the product you are purchasing.

Yes, but they must have lids, be clean, rust free, and label free. We do not accept soft plastics. Please limit donations to 6 containers per visit so that we can manage the supply safely and effectively. We sanitize all the donated containers and anyone can use them for $0.50 (this fee covers the sanitizing and cleaning of the container donations).

Services are also offered to refill your containers for you.  Customers can drop off their clean containers to be filled. Hearterra can work with you to label containers (or you can drop off pre-labelled containers) and fill with the product of choice on the labels.  Customers can return to pick the order up later that day or when it is convenient for them.

Yes! We even have a lot of unscented products to help people who have allergies or sensitivities.

We are happy to prepare something special for you to give!

Our products come from various locations in Canada. We try to source close to home when possible. We also consider the environmental and social standards of the company we are purchasing from.

Sometimes the product is not available in Canada at the quality or standards that we are looking for and we need to purchase them from other countries. 

We usually recommend starting with something you need. Maybe you are running low on dish soap or shampoo.

Find any clean container with a lid and bring it in. We will weigh it, you fill it with the product you choose (or we can fill it for you), we weigh your full container and subtract the container weight, you pay for the product.

When you get home, you can either transfer the product (funnels come in handy for this) into the container you would like to use it in (like a dish soap squeeze bottle) or use it as it is.
